Oh, but it IS a para-primal fear, the fear of torture. Look at the way the unhoused are treated. Poverty IS torture! Think about facing down the moment of foreclosure, eviction, the debt trap, the measures which make recovery from a certain degree of impoverishment almost impossible. Tell me you’d never think of ending it before being put there!

Makes sense when you consider that Americans lack a social safety net. Sad. So glad i live in Canada.🇨🇦

It feels like we’re locked inside a runaway train, trying to believe the brakes will function, but knowing in our minds and hearts that the end may be coming right around the next curve.

I can see this statistic in real time. But I wouldn’t have articulated it. I’m grateful that you shared it and articulated it so clearly and completely. We are so broken. We have really lost our way. You are right it is a failed system. Thank you. I really appreciate your writing and I like this video format also. Predatory capitalism. Wow. It is a tremendous systemic failure.

Being poor is deadly. If you can't afford medical care, you die. My brother went to the county clinic. It took four months to get a blood test done because they only do them one day per month. He didn't know that and had to wait for the next month to get the test. Then the person taking the test didn't come in, so he had to wait another month. Then he had to wait another month to get an appointment to get the results. Every appointment was a 45 minute drive to get a number and wait however long it took for them to get to you. This translates into a lost day of wages. If you are poor in America, you die.

What amazes me is that people voted for that system for decades- almost like it’s what they wanted. The power of propaganda, I guess.
